TAMU Admission Requirements

 To apply for full admission into the department, the Office of Graduate Admissions and Records at Texas A&M University requires the following items:

  • TAMU Application  - Complete the online Texas Common Graduate Application accompanied by a $50 application fee ($75 for international applicants)
  • Official transcripts - Transcripts must be submitted from each higher education institution previously attended
  • Official TOFLC or IELTS scores - International applicants only must submit scores less than two years old. Scores are sent electronically using the Texas A&M University code-6003. (See Office of Graduate Studies for directions for waivers)

Departmental Admission Requirements

In addition to the TAMU admission requirements, the Department requires applicants to submit the following items. These items may be sent electronically (eahradvisor@cehd.tamu.edu) or may be mailed or faxed to the Office of Academic Advising address listed below.

  • A one-page minimum statement of professional intent/career objective -- must indicate why you wish to pursue the degree, what the degree can accomplish for your career goals, and if applicable, your specific research area of interest.
  • A current resume
  • Three reference letters completed by any of the following:                
    • your immediate or past supervisor 
    • a peer or professor
    • another person from the above categories

Doctoral and masters candidates in specific specializations are REQUIRED to come to the College Station campus for an interview and writing exercise. Please refer to your specific specialization of interest whether an interview is required. If an interview is required, they will be held in October for spring admission and February for summer and fall admission. Doctoral candidates may be required to prepare a short presentation before interviewers.

Acceptance into the Department is based on consideration from the following:

  • A required committee interview (only for specific specializations)
  • A writing exercise (only for specific specializations)
  • Professional statement of intent
  • Work experience
  • Professional and community services
  • Publications and presentations
  • Reference letters
  • Grade Point Ratio (GPR)
  • GRE scores (required for all Higher Education degrees, SAAHE, and Public School Administration PhD)

Non-Degree Admission Information (G6)

 Not all areas of specialization within our department accept G6 students.  Please contact graduate academic advisor by email for more information.

Post-baccalaureate non-degree seeking graduate students are not eligible for assistantships, fellowships, scholarships or any financial assistance funded by Texas A&M University.
