Aggie To Receive Outstanding Dissertation Award At AERA Meeting In Chicago3/23/07 By Lauren Rouse Fran Huckaby, a former doctoral student in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, will receive the Qualitative Research Outstanding Dissertation of the Year Award at this year's American Educational Research Association (AERA) 2007 annual meeting in April in Chicago, Ill. "I consider this award a high honor," Huckaby said. "Actually, I considered making it to the finals a high honor. Receiving the award is much more - an extremely high honor. I am quite pleased that highly respected colleagues value my scholarship." Huckaby's dissertation explored how scholars whose work is critical of the status quo puts them at risk in academic environments because of their less than mainstream work. These scholars are able to resist the controls often found in academic research and speak the truth as they wish. |
