CertificatesThe Department offers graduate students and/or working individuals opportunities to obtain certificates in two areas of emphasis: College Teaching and Training and Development.
An effective teacher requires knowledge of students as learners, teaching, discipline, context, and oneself as a teacher. The coursework required for the certificate is designed to explore these requirements and enhance the teaching experience of all graduate students pursuing careers in college or university setting. For more information about the Certificate, click here or contact Adult Education program chair, Dr. Carolyn Clark at cclark@tamu.edu or the College Teaching director, Dr. Fred Bonner at fbonner@tamu.edu.
The program is based on the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implementation and Evaluation) model that consists of five systematic steps used to create instructional products for a variety of settings. Each phase represents a series of tasks that ensure development efforts stay on target. This model represents a complete instructional design workflow. It has built-in planning activities, quality assurance checkpoints, and feedback cycles. The program presents the ADDIE model through a real-world corporate training perspective. For more information about the Training and Development Certifcation Program, please contact the program coordinator, Dr. Larry Dooley at l-dooley@tamu.edu or visit the Certification Program page.
