Three educational administration and human resource development doctoral students recently received $4,500 in scholarships to support their research in school facilities. The students are part of the School Facilities Working Group established by Lynn Burlbaw and Virginia Collier, faculty in the College of Education and Human Development.

Brandon Core received both the national Dale Schiedemann Award for $1,000 and the region's Otto Grove Scholarship for $2,500 to fund his research in Texas school facilities' policy and social justice.

Deanna Lovesmith received $500 for her study of the perceptions of Texas superintendents regarding school facilities, and Scot Kelley received $500 for his historical study of the impact of federally funded WPA schools on communities in Texas.

The students will receive their awards at the Council of Educational Facility Planners International Southern Region Conference in San Antonio on April 14, 2007. The School Facilities Working Group will also present a session at the conference.
