HRD and K-12 Programs Rankings in U.S. News & World Report4/17/06 Most HRD programs in the US have historical origins in Vocational/Technical programs, though the term has yet to be updated. HRD faculty across the country are working to have the ranking label changed to include the term Human Resource Education, but currently U.S. News has confirmed that the Vocational/Technical ranking refers to/includes HRD programs. Having reviewed the U.S. News process and criteria, the University of Minnesota Dean and University executive leadership (a top HRD program; ranked #2) agreed as have the University of Illinois leadership: (another top program; ranked #5) and many other programs. This was confirmed by the Academy of HRD. Given this information, our HRD program was ranked 8th nationally under the Vocational/Technical category. While only one of our programs was ranked in the top 25 in the U.S. News & World Report rankings, the Public School Administration (K-12) leadership program moved from 25th last year to 18th this year. This significant move up in the rankings benefits all of us in the department. Congratulations to HRD and K-12 faculty for their success. This is very good for all of us. When one of us shines, we all shine. |
