McGlohn to Receive Hensarling Distinguished Graduate Student Award

11/3/09

Robin McGlohn, a doctoral candidate in public school administration at Texas A&M University, will receive the Paul R. Hensarling Distinguished Graduate Student Award at the 2009 Administrative Leadership Institute (ALI).

As the coordinator for the Staff Development Department in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, Robin is responsible for the New Teacher Induction Program, Teacher Leadership Academy and other professional leadership initiatives.

She was nominated for the award by Anthony Rolle, an associate professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development.

"Not only does she offer an interesting blend of academic interests and abilities, Robin also offers an equally strong blend of unique practical and professional experiences in her examinations of administrative, political, financial and legal issues in education," Rolle says.

The award is given in memory of Paul Hensarling, former Texas school superintendent, who was also head of the Department of Educational Psychology and professor emeritus of the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development. He played an instrumental role in creating the College of Education and Human Development and its doctoral programs, and attracting many outstanding faculty members.

Robin will be honored at the ALI opening banquet at the Miramont Country Club in Bryan on Nov. 18, 2009, at 6 p.m.

The opening banquet is part of the 2009 ALI Conference, to be held Nov. 18-19. This year's conference theme is Leaders of Leaders in Secondary Schools: the Superintendent and Leadership Team.
