Pirtle To Receive Golden Deeds At Annual Leadership Institute Thursday

11/8/06

By Jenna Kujawski

Joe Pirtle, former superintendent of Belton ISD, will be honored with the coveted Golden Deeds for Education Award at the 24th Annual Administrative Leadership Institute's (ALI) awards luncheon on Thursday (Nov. 16). The annual conference for educators is sponsored, in part, by the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M.

The Golden Deeds award is considered the highest recognition for distinguished service to education in the state of Texas. Having been involved in education for the past 44 years, Pirtle's commitment to education can be seen in his involvement in education associations such as the American and Texas Associations of School Administrators. In addition, he is actively involved in his community, even more so after his retirement from Belton ISD in 1997.

Currently, Pirtle serves as an Education Consultant for Belton ISD and as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Education Service Center Region 12.

"We know and respect this gentleman and applaud the many contributions he has brought to education," said Tom Norris and Thomas Poe, executive directors of ESC Region 12 and 6. "Most importantly, he has provided positive service to the youth of Texas."

The awards luncheon will take place at 11:35 a.m. at the College Station Hilton Hotel and Conference Center.
