Victoria Pursch, former doctoral student in educational administration, was honored with the T.M. Stinnett Fellowship Award at Texas A&M University's 24th Annual Administrative Leadership Institute (ALI) Nov. 16, 2006.

"I don't remember at what moment I knew I would be an educator," Pursch said. "I just always knew."

Linda Skrla, associate dean for Research and P-16 Initiatives and mentor to Pursch, presented Pursch her award.

The award is given in honor of Paul R. Hensarling, a former Texas school superintendent, who also served as head of the Department of Education and Psychology and was Professor Emeritus of the Department of Educational Administration at Texas A&M. He developed proposals leading to the creation of the College of Education and its doctoral programs and attracted many outstanding faculty.

"You can do things for kids in educational administration. You need a commitment of the heart and the mind," Pursch said. "There is no greater thing on earth than making a difference in the lives of kids."

The Administrative Leadership Institute is sponsored by the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M, the Texas Association of School Administrators and Dell Computer Corporation.
