Rodriguez Receives Distinguished Graduate Student Award

Claudia Rodriguez, a doctoral student in educational administration, received the Paul R. Hensarling Award at a luncheon closing Texas A&M University's 24th Annual Administrative Leadership Institute (ALI) on Nov. 16, 2006.  Rodriguez, who could not be present at the luncheon to receive her award due to a prior commitment, sent a letter thanking everyone for the honor.         

"The doctoral program has been a life changing experience," she said. "Education is my calling and the journey with Texas A&M has been a rewarding one."

Linda Skrla, associate dean for Research and P-16 Initiatives, presented Rodriguez's letter and accepted the award on her behalf.

The award is given in honor of Paul R. Hensarling, a former Texas school superintendent, who also served as head of the Department of Education and Psychology and was Professor Emeritus of the Department of Educational Administration at Texas A&M. He developed proposals leading to the creation of the College of Education and its doctoral programs and attracted many outstanding faculty.

The Administrative Leadership Institute is sponsored by the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M, the Texas Association of School Administrators and Dell Computer Corporation.
