Rolle Co-Edits Social Justice And School Finance Book4/3/07 By Jenna Kujawski Anthony Rolle, associate professor within the public school administration emphasis, recently co-edited a book titled To What Ends and By What Means: The Social Justice Implications of Contemporary School Finance Theory and Policy. Gloria Rodriguez, assistant professor of education at the University of California Davis, co-edited the book with Rolle. "Gloria Rodriguez and Anthony Rolle bring us an impressive group of scholars who challenge us to rethink, not just the way we fund schools, but the fundamental assumptions that make our funding schemes appear sensible," wrote Jeannie Oakes, presidential professor in education equity at the University of California Los Angeles. "This book strips away the fiction of ideological neutrality in basic theories and everyday decisions that shape equity, efficiency, adequacy, and productivity." Experts from the fields of philosophy, sociology, economics, psychology, public policy and international studies contributed their stories to the book, giving readers the framework to understand why school finance reform is essential in improving the educational experience for traditionally under-represented populations. |
