Workshop To Introduce Aspiring Teachers To Texas A&M MentorsOct. 7, 2005 By Jenna Smith A workshop for aspiring teachers interested in attending Texas A&M University will be held Saturday (Oct. 8) at Westchester Academy in Houston. The workshop will cover topics of interest to high school and community college students seeking a career in education. Luana Zellner, director of the Principals' Center at Texas A&M, has arranged for representatives from Texas A&M, Spring ISD, Houston ISD and North Harris Montgomery Community College to be available for questions from and interaction with the students. "This workshop will allow Houston-area students to be connected with [Texas A&M] mentors," Zellner said. "The students will also learn how they can become a part of the support pipeline at Texas A&M, specifically through the College of Education and Human Development." The workshop is sponsored by the Principals' Center in collaboration with the bilingual education program in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M. The program is part of the Aspiring Teachers Networking with Technology (TNT) project, funded by the Sid W. Richardson Foundation grant initiative. The event is free of charge. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. For additional information, contact Luana Zellner at 979.862.1296. |
